TIAWANAKU

The most important archeological site in the country, due to its size and magnificence. Tiawanaku, anciently known as Taypikala, which means the Aymara language: Stone of the Center.
The culture of Tiawanaku dated chronologically from 1,500 BC to 1,200 AD. Tiawanaku included three cultural periods: the Village Period, the Urban Period and the Period of Imperial Expansion. Tiawanaku is located 71 kilometers from La Paz, on the highway between La Paz and Desaguaderon on the Bolivian-Peruvian border. The trip on asphalt road takes approximately an hour and a half. Tiawanaku lies at an altitude of 3,845 meters above sea level . |

Visit includes:
08:00 am Pick-up at Hotel of the City of La Paz, from where we leave for Tiawanaku.
After viewing the Lithic and Ceramic Museums, we visit the archeological site of Tiawanaku. At the end of our visit we have lunch and then return to La Paz .

Tour to Tiawanaku with connection to Desaguadero
(Bolivian-Peruvian frontier)
Visit includes:
08:00 am pick-up at Hotel of the City of La Paz, from where we leave for Tiawanaku.
We begin by visiting the two museums, the Lithic and the Ceramic , and then go to the archeological site of Tiawanaku. After having lunch, there is a connection to the frontier at Desaguadero or vica-versa.
